PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION OF BRAND:
The ON-2 brand is a burned brand that’s unknown, but possibly identifies a hunting camp or club.
BACKGROUND:
The ON-2 brand appears on many Barnegat Bay decoys – the one pictured is on the bottom of an Old Squaw made by Frank Lamson. Lamson was from Mayetta, NJ. Hurley Conklin pattered his first decoys from Frank Lamson’s decoys. There are several theories as to who/what the ON-2 brand signifies. Any information on the origin of this brand would be welcomed.
THIS BRAND HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED ON THE FOLLOWING DECOYS:

REFERENCES/SOURCES:
A similar Old Squaw appears in Ken Gosner’s book, Working Decoys of the New Jersey Coast and Delaware River. The decoy there is listed as unknown but does indeed mention the ON-2 brand.
