The decoy is identified as one made by Oscar Ames of Blue Hill, Maine, around 1905.The brand is H. J. AMES. Another collector told me that the brand for Oscar Ames is O. F. A.

Written in black pen on the decoy is “Oscar Ames Blue Hill Maine 1905. W. F. Mackey, Jr. Bellpoint, N. J.”

This burned brand in all capital letters represents two unknown gunners.
BACKGROUND:
This is an unknown brand that has appeared on several decoys that were found on Cape Cod. This Canada Goose decoy was made around 1875 by the Dodge Decoy Factory.
